Back-to-School Joy: Serving Students with the Grandmother Standard

The weather is changing, and at Keystone Food Service, this is our favorite time of year! With school back in session, we get to do what we do best: serve delicious meals that feed the next generation. Recently, we asked several Keystone team members to share their favorite part of the back-to-school season. Their answers reminded us why we love what we do!

Smiles That Make It Worthwhile

Our team's top response was simple yet powerful: seeing the kids again. There's nothing better than those smiling faces in the lunch line.

Kayli, one of our team members, said: "My favorite part of serving food is feeding the kids! Knowing that they are at least getting two meals from us makes me value what we do greatly."

Fan-Favorite Meals

When it came to food favorites, the results weren't surprising—chicken nuggets and nachos topped the list of meals our staff loves serving. They're crowd-pleasers every time!

The Grandmother Standard

At Keystone, we live by the Grandmother Standard. The most beloved of our standards is #1: "We will prepare our food as if preparing for our grandchildren—taking time, tasting it, simmering it, and caring about it." As Cheryl shared, "Everyone gets a smile and, if need be, a hug!”
